School of Foreign Languages - Situation Explanation

Situation Explanation#

On the morning of April 23, 2018, an official WeChat account published a "Open Letter" from our student Yue Xin. The school immediately contacted relevant teachers and students to understand the situation. The following is an explanation:

On the afternoon and evening of April 22, the counselor of the school tried to contact Yue Xin through various means, but was unable to reach her. Concerned about her safety, the counselor contacted Yue Xin's mother around 23:30 to inquire about her whereabouts. Yue Xin's mother stated that she had not returned home. After unsuccessful attempts to reach her by phone and WeChat, her mother became worried and rushed to the dormitory. At that time, Yue Xin had already returned to the dormitory, and her mother communicated with her. In order to avoid disturbing other students' rest, her mother decided to go home with her.

On the morning of April 23, the school further communicated with the parents after noticing the relevant information on the internet, expressing concern. Teachers at the school, like parents, genuinely care for and protect students, not only in terms of their studies, but also their health, safety, and growth. Both teachers and parents have good intentions and share the same attitude.

It is understood that Yue Xin has submitted a partial draft of her thesis, and her advisor has provided positive feedback and careful guidance, hoping that she pays attention to the progress of her writing.

The school is a home for students' growth and development. Teachers make every effort to care for and protect students, and this care also implies responsibility. The school, teachers, and parents all share the responsibility of education. At the same time, we always respect the basic rights of every student and strive to protect their legitimate interests.

We appreciate the concern of teachers, students, and alumni for the work of the school.
